So this is pretty much the track plan i am going to start building with. The idea is an interchange on the top left, various industries, a siding, and a yard at the bottom. I didn’t think I had room for a peninsula coming out into the middle of the room this way but was pleasantly surprised at how much room it still do allow.
With a lot of little help, I have made it around 3 sides of the room. I am stalling on what to do with the doorway.
I started on the south side building 18″ out. How exciting to see something real going up! Merry Christmas to me!!
Before I can start building, I need to come up with a height. Here I mocked up what 52″ looks like. I actually really like this height. The only downside is kiddos not being able to see that well. I plan on making some steps for them. I also wanted to see what a small view block looks like to have a hidden staging yard on one end. I was surprised at how low I could get.

A mere 4 days after finishing the room, the layout is complete and trains are running!!!
And here is the room, completed. Well, mostly completed. I have a new window on order so that and the window trim is the only items left.
I picked up some carpet squares. While I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. I really like the way the flooring turned out!
Before I could paint I needed to fur out the garage foundation on two walls. Then cutting in the ceiling. Have I mentioned how much I hate painting? Even after talking myself into taking my time and doing it right, I still screwed up everyplace I could Have I mentioned how much I hate painting? I will say, a little blue goes a long…long way!
