A little more track and layout plan update

A little more track and layout plan update

I put one more industry in today, which is pretty much the end of what I can do with the track supplies I have on hand.   I did finally get everything I need to finish the track ordered.  Hopefully in the next week or so I will have a chance to make a push to get all of it laid.  It is pretty cool to have enough track down to leave all of the locos and cars on the track…

First buildings

First buildings

Not really much I can do now until I get a bunch more switches and track.  The trains themselves are setup and ready to go.  I am not going to do much scenery until I get all of the track down.  So…break out the buildings!   First up is the grain elevator.  It still needs painted, decaled, etc.  however it is on the layout!

Speed matching

Speed matching

Progress again

Progress again

Lots of progress the last few days, or at least it feels like it.  I took a little time reworking the yard plan so I knew where to finish the main.  One evening to lay everything out, one evening to put down roadbed and track, and this evening added the feeders and ran some trains.   I also put in one spur, the easiest of course! The yard was redesigned to better allow for switching.  I added an arrival/departure track off…

One step forward, one step backward

One step forward, one step backward

I had grand plans this weekend, but we all know what that means. Everything hinged around getting supplies delivered Sat morning. Despite being “out for delivery”, the postman did not drop off the package.  Of course they dont knock anymore, they more or less just throw it and run.  They were long gone by the time i figured out things were missing.  So what does any crazy person do?  Chase down the mail truck and head to the post office…

1 step forward 2 steps back

1 step forward 2 steps back

Track planning has to be the hardest part of this whole thing.  There is an unbelievable amount of thought that gets put into it.  Well, at least I am.  Maybe I am way over thinking this.  I do know that with a plan, it is super easy to get it from paper to bench work.  So I figure I might as well make all my mistakes before I glue anything. I thought I had a great plan.  Then two things…
